“I grew up in a pastors home and saw my parents serve the church my entire life. They pastored in Cleburne for 10 years before my family took a step of faith and planted a church about 12 years ago in Crowley, TX the year that I graduated high school.
As a pastor’s kid, I have served in just about every position possible in churches over the years and honestly never thought that we’d be lead pastors. But in January of 2022, as my wife and I were overseeing the generations ministries at The Pursuit NW, I had a dream about Cleburne, TX that started us on a journey that leads us to where we are now.
My qualification for leading a church in Cleburne is that I am hungry and have sown tears into the carpet for this city. I have been praying for revival for the past 15 years of my life, and I believe we are on the brink of something beyond our wildest hopes and dreams. We know that God is not done with our city and we believe that He will be faithful to finish what He has started.
Cleburne will be known as a hot bed of revival and outpouring, a well for the region, a sign and a wonder that people will come from all over the nation to see. We will see our city come back to life and our prayer is simple:
Holy Ghost, you are welcome here.
We are the luckiest people in the world who are still in awe that God has called us. Come and join us and let’s see what God can do in this city.”

Known for his courage and boldness, Pastor Russell is deeply involved in bringing revival into every sphere he occupies. He has coined the phrase “Revival or we die,” reflecting his all-in, no-holds-barred pursuit of the presence of God.
Pastor Russell and The Pursuit have been part of Thread’s story from the very beginning. Pastor Alex and Brenna served as generation pastors at The Pursuit before launching Thread, and the church has continued to support and send leaders into Thread’s mission.
